Christmas in January!

With December being our busiest month, we like to celebrate Christmas in January. St Michaels Resort  in Falmouth has welcomed us for the last 4 years. We eat, drink, dance, stay over and then discuss all the shenanigans over a full english breakfast!

The whole team become  Balayage Certified by Redken

The salon invited London based educator James Atkinson to Marzipan to push our colouring skills. We spent a day working on 5 models, using a variety of balayage techniques. The results were incredible and great to  step  out of our comfort zone and push the boundaries with colour.

Hannah tied the knot!

The salon closed on Saturday 15th June to celebrate Hannah getting married. Team Marzipan were dressed to impress and danced the night away!

Muddy Stilettos held their annual awards for local Cornish businesses. This year we won Best Salon in Cornwall which we are very happy about! Thanks for the votes!

The Cornwall Apprenticeship Awards are back!

This year is a little different for us. The Awards are now in their 4th year and we have certainly been involved from the start.  Daisy  came  runner up in 2015 and won in 2016 in the hair & beauty category.  Shannon was the winner in the  hair & beauty category and overall winner in 2017.  This year we are excited to be sponsoring the event and part of the judging panel. Our record donations to The Little Princess Trust

The Little Princess Trust provides real hair wigs free of charge to children and young adults up to the age of 24, who have sadly lost their own hair due to cancer treatment and other illnesses. We have been sending off more plaits then ever and spreading the word about this fantastic charity.

Finally, our Christmas Party!

With December being such a busy time for us, we decided to celebrate Christmas and New Year in January. All 11 of the Marzipan team enjoyed a dinner, dance and stay over at The St Michaels Hotel and Spa in Falmouth. It was just fab!

Shannon Won!!!!!

Shannon had a clean sweep at the Cornwall Apprenticeship Awards 2017! She won Apprentice of the Year in the Hair & Beauty category and the overall award competing with all the winners! We are so proud of her.

We welcomed Tony Wood & Michael Saunders to Marzipan for a 2 day bespoke cutting workshop. These amazing artists are Lee Stafford educators, salon owners and industry experts!

Shannon is awarded 2nd place!

After plenty of preparation and a fantastic model, Shannon gained 2nd place at the 2017 Cornish Skills Competition. We are so proud of her!

Tom is running the Paris Marathon

During a busy Saturday, we all took a break to watch.

The parade opened with the very glamorous Roland and included one of the country’s biggest rainbow flags!

Grey hair, still popular this season

We are still getting asked on a weekly basis to produce grey hair on our clients. Believe it or not this can be one of the biggest challenges we face. It can often takes many hours and can be hard to maintain.

Hannah has been around the country sharing the Lee Stafford way when it comes to education. Liverpool, Chichester and Oxford have been great places to visit.

Salon Smart 2016

We strive to be part of the annual industry event Salon Smart. Held in London, the 2 days are packed with seminars, shows, networking and inspiration. This year we heard from big names Lee Stafford, Nicky Clarke, Shane Bennett, Tony Wood, Adam Reed and many more!

Salon Cornwall

Both Daisy and Jess were asked to demonstrate their hairdressing skills at the 2016 Salon Cornwall event. They are working hard towards their NVQ3 in hairdressing and the hard work is paying off!

Kim becomes our Redken Certified Haircolorist!

Kim has been working hard for almost 2 years to achieve the top Redken Colour Award. Mixing practical, theory and exams, Kim got one of the highest possible results! Well done!

Lee Stafford adds Hannah to his education team.

Lee Stafford is opening hairdressing academies all over the UK and has asked Hannah to get on board to share his vision with the college trainers. Hannah is enjoying the new challenge and loves being part of the Lee Stafford Education team.

January Party!

We decided to have our Christmas party in January. So thanks to the Fistral Beach Hotel for a great time. A wonderful meal, casino tables, dancing, swimming, overnight stay and breakfast!

Daisy makes top 3 at Cornwall Apprentice Awards!

The Cornwall Apprenticeship Awards 2015 took place this month. Daisy made the top 3 in the Hair and Beauty category and the Achievement category. We are very proud of her and she is a very valued member of the Marzipan team.

Tom gets fit!

Since January this year Tom has enjoyed changing his lifestyle to be a fitter, healthier chap! So far he has completed the Truro and  Indian Queens half marathon, Tough Enough challenge and the Newquay 10k. Well done Tom!

Redken Symposium in Vegas an LA!

The Global Redken Symposium took place in January. It began with seminars and shows from well known hairdressers from all over the world, then finished with a few days in LA. We had lots of fun and were very inspired!
